FAQ*

What is a pen plotter?

A pen plotter is a machine that holds a real pen and draws on paper by moving along precise coordinates. Unlike a printer, it physically draws each line — the result is a genuine ink drawing, not a reproduction.

What does "one continuous line" mean?

一筆書き (hitofudegaki) — every mobile suit is rebuilt as a single unbroken vector path. The plotter draws the entire piece without lifting the pen. One line, start to finish.

Are these prints?

No. Every edition is drawn, not printed. The AxiDraw plotter traces the path in technical pen on archival paper. Because of the physical medium, no two pieces in an edition are ever perfectly identical.

What paper and ink do you use?

We use 300gsm archival cotton stock with pigment-based technical pens (typically Sakura Pigma Micron or Staedtler Pigment Liner). Both paper and ink are acid-free and lightfast.

How long does a plot take?

Depends on the complexity and size. A standard A3 edition typically runs 30 – 90 minutes. Larger A1 pieces can take several hours. You can watch the timing live on the Live Plot on our homepage.

What sizes are available?

Current editions are offered in A3 (297 × 420mm). Select editions may be available in A1 (594 × 841mm) — check the edition listing for details.

How are editions numbered?

Each edition has a fixed run size (e.g. "Edition of 50"). Pieces are numbered sequentially as they are plotted and sold. Once an edition sells out, it is retired.

Do you take commissions?

Yes. We accept commissions for custom mobile suit plots and other subjects. Visit our Commissions page for details.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship worldwide with tracked, insured carriers. See our Shipping page for full details.

Can I return a piece?

Because each piece is made to order, we cannot accept returns for change of mind. We do replace pieces damaged in transit. See our Returns policy.
